Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.  Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest operates throughout metropolitan Portland and Southwest Washington. Through a clear focus on strategic priorities, the agency grew from serving 50 children in 2002 to serving 2,371 children in 2007, making it the largest mentoring program in Oregon and the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters agency on the West Coast.  During the same time period, the agency has successfully grown revenues from $130,000 to $3,000,000 while launching programs for high risk children, including children of incarcerated parents, foster children, children in Title I schools, and Latino, African American and Native American children. The agency boasts a high-profile, committed board of directors, an experienced and mission-driven workforce and strong community partnerships.
 
The chief development officer will serve as the lead strategist for agency fund development, helping the chief executive officer and leadership team blend a multi-year revenue plan with the agency’s growth agenda. The CDO will manage the fund development team. The CDO is the agency’s principal major gift fundraiser.As a member of the leadership team this position is responsible for helping shape global agency strategy and for playing a leadership role in implementing the agency’s operating plan.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set and achieve, in close collaboration with the CEO, multi-year and annual revenue goals.
  • Develop and implement a written plan for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual, foundation and corporate donors.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of prospective donors.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage staff for performance and retention.
  • Staff the fund development department.
  • Stay abreast of organization-wide issues, contribute to the development and achievement of the long-term vision and short-term operating plans.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years progressively-responsible experience in fund development.
  • Successful management experience w/ at least 2 direct reports.


COMPENSATION:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
