Press, 2004). He has written numerous articles for such national publications
as Fund Raising Management, U.S. Air, Southern Bride, and Servant Leadership.
He has been the publisher of the monthly newsletter; Philanthropic
Trends Digest, and eight editions of The Foundation 500. Dr. Lawson
has produced numerous audio and videotapes, including, The Artful Asker,
Give to Live, and A Basic Fund-Raiser Course.Dr. Lawson holds three academic degrees: a B.A. from Randolph Macon College, a B.D. from Drew University, and a Ph.D. from Duke University. He is a member of three honorary fraternities: Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa and Pi Gamma Mu. He is a member of the board of directors of Fleetwood Enterprises, a New York Stock Exchange corporation, and he is on the advisory board of the Yale Divinity School. He has served as a member of the Charitable Giving Task Force of the Million Dollar Round Table and on the Board of the Jeffrey Ballet and Houston Junior Achievement. In his professional life, Dr. Lawson serves as the founding chairman of Lawson Associates, Inc., a fund-raising and management consulting firm which, to date, has served more than one thousand clients throughout the world and assisted clients in raising more than $2 billion. Thompson is a professional with diverse experiences in fundraising,
non-profit management, and government relations.Now in private practice, Thompson heads the Nashville office of Lawson Associates, Inc., serving as Senior Associate for a variety of non-profit clients. He consults clients in fundraising for Capital Campaigns, Endowment Campaigns and Annual Fund Campaigns as well as other related activities. His clients, located across the country, include colleges and universities, prominent museums, churches and nationally known associations. Prior to becoming partnered with Lawson Associates, Dan Thompson served as Finance Director for a statewide U.S. Senate race in Tennessee where he developed and implemented all facets of a major fundraising plan including finance board development, a direct mail program, donor event opportunities, direct solicitation programs and a donor relations program. Mr. Thompson has also had a successful stint managing one of Tennessee's premier non-profit associations, The Tennessee Business Roundtable. As Executive Director, he was responsible for all aspects of managing a non-profit association including fundraising, board development, strategic planning, and membership development. Dan Thompson currently sits on two volunteer boards, the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee and the Monroe Harding Children's Home. He was honored by his board piers by being named "Volunteer of the Year" in 2005 for his work with Monroe Harding. In June of 2000 Dan Thompson was given the distinction of being named to the "Forty Under Forty" list by Nashville Business Magazine, sited as being one of Nashville's most influential business leaders under the age of forty. (Buddy) Wolfe, Jr. , our east coast senior associate based in Washington,
DC, has over 30 years experience in fund raising, non-profit organizations
and marketing/sales. This includes serving as director of development and
capital campaign director for the West Virginia University Foundation; deputy
executive director of development programs and assistant campaign director
for the Ohio State University; consultant to the board of directors and assistant
vice president of the Development Services Division of Teleconnect/Telecom
USA/MCI Services; and, since 1991, consultant to non-profit and for profit
organizations.He has served as consultant, manager, and senior professional for colleges, universities, art centers, fraternities, hospitals, health organizations, and other non-profits as well as a variety of for-profits companies including over 38 successful capital campaigns. Recent clients and roles include The Greater Columbus (Ohio) Area Salvation Army as capital campaign manager; Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity & Foundation as campaign consultant and consultant to the Trustees; the New York City Police Foundation as campaign manager; The Salvation Army Metro Louisville (Kentucky) as campaign manager; the National Institute for People with Disabilities as campaign manager; and as senior consultant to Celebrating Patsy Cline, Inc. which is building a museum in her hometown of Winchester, Virginia. He is a member of the Council for Non-Profit Innovation and has been an active participant and presenter to a wide variety of professional organizations and conferences including the Council for the Advancement & Support of Education; Association of Fund Raising Professionals; (Fraternities) Foundations Seminars; and National Interfraternity Council. He has also been a seminar developer and presenter for a variety of seminars series including the Council for Non-Profit Innovation, Mediate-Facilitate and CMW seminars; authored a number of professional articles including Volunteer Phone Thank-a-thons and The Backwards Campaign Approach for Fund Raising Management magazine; and served as a volunteer board member, officer and chair of several non-profit organizations including as an at-large trustee for the Environmental Fund for Ohio, a federation of 26 leading wildlife and environmental organizations, and as a member of the Advisory Council of the East Kossuth/Citadel Corps of The Greater Columbus Salvation Army. Special areas of expertise include first time capital campaigns, major gifts, corporation and foundation grants, board development, and non-profit policies and support operations. M. Ridout has
spent his professional life working with nonprofit organizations as a campaign
fundraiser, study director, trainer, seminar leader and specialist in nonprofit
finances. He has served as capital and endowment Counsel for such organizations
as Habitat for Humanity International and The Salvation Army. For three and
one-half years, he served as the Executive Director for an organization which
recruited, trained, placed and supervised volunteers as chaplains in industry. He
has been a speaker and seminar leader at local, regional and national business,
civic and professional groups. He has served as Director of Campaigns
totaling over 200 million dollars.Mr. Ridout is a graduate of Duke University with a B.A. degree and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. with a M.Div. degree. Ed Ridout’s expertise in fund raising is particularly highlighted in his excellent work with volunteer, board and committee members and major gift donors. His successes as a Lawson Senior Consulting Associate have taken him to numerous states including Virginia, Texas, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania. |
