What We Do

(Capital, Endowment, Annual) - assist clients in all areas of fundraising management, including fiscal planning, organization, administration, and campaign management.  These services are available to board, chief operating officers, staff, and volunteers.  Before contracting with a client for campaign management services, LAWSON ASSOCIATES reviews carefully how in-house staff can best be organized to implement both short and long-range campaign management needs.  An appraisal is also made of how outside services can be used by the staff most advantageously to supplement in-house capability.

Case Studies

Thousands of clients have used the services of LAWSON ASSOCIATES. These Case Studies are a sampling of the satisfied customers that have been served.

Texas Tech University - LAWSON ASSOCIATES was called upon to motivate alumni, to find new sources of potential major gifts including individuals, foundations, and corporations, and to secure new staff for a $250 million campaign.  This all was accomplished and the goal surpassed by $250 million, for a total of $512 million, within the five years designated for the Campaign.  This was at a University that had barely raised $60 million in its earlier record-breaking Campaign.

Salvation Army of Columbus, Ohio - Asked to raise over $10 million for what was the largest Salvation Army campaign in its territory, LAWSON ASSOCIATES responded by assisting in the raising of over $11 million.  This included securing the largest grant ever by the Kresge Foundation to a local Salvation Army.

Smithsonian Institution - When given the challenge by the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. which was a LAWSON ASSOCIATES client, to raise funds to create the first Smithsonian Museum outside Washington, D.C., LAWSON ASSOCIATES responded by managing the successful campaign to create the Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design in New York City.

Pacific Symphony Orchestra - In the middle of a major recession, LAWSON ASSOCIATES managed the successful $5 million campaign for the Southern California Pacific Symphony Orchestra.  The theme of this campaign, "From Better to Best", is an accurate description of what LAWSON ASSOCIATES attempts to accomplish for all its clients.

John Templeton Foundation - When asked by the John Templeton Foundation in Pennsylvania to direct a major fundraising effort for the Forgiveness Campaign sponsored by the foundation,  LAWSON ASSOCIATES responded by raising over $1.5 million to assure this Campaign's success.  This campaign brought the Lawson team in contact with such international figures as Bishop Tutu of South Africa.

Crystal Cathedral - When asked by Dr. Robert Schuller in 1976 to direct a campaign to raise $10 million to build the first all glass church in the world most people said it couldn't be done.  Working closely with Philip Johnson, one of the world's greatest architects, LAWSON ASSOCIATES raised these funds in less than a year.  When construction bids totaled over $20 million LAWSON ASSOCIATES was called back in to raise the additional funds.  Subsequent to these successful campaigns Dr. Schuller has utilized the fundraising services of LAWSON ASSOCIATES for numerous other Crystal Cathedral projects.
